Professor Janet Bainbridge OBE has over 30 years world-wide experience across the life sciences, including senior management positions in Higher Education, CEO of a successful SME, over 10 years as a contractor to the UK Government with UK Trade and Investment (now the Department of International Trade) and advisor to EU Directorate General Research and Innovation [DG RTD] (Brussels), UK research councils and TSB/Innovate UK.

A biochemical Engineer by training; with degrees in medical microbiology and technical education, she does not have a silo mentality but is knowledgeable across the life sciences including health sciences, food and drink, agriculture, genetics, bio-economy, synthetic biology and medical engineering.

Janet is one of the most experienced independent scientific regulator in the UK, having recognised expertise in bringing panels to consensus providing impartial advice to Ministers; she has extensive networks and access to policy makers in Government and the civil-service.

In 2010, Janet founded the limited company Innovation and Sparkling Science Ltd and she trades under that name.
